The Cosmogram series was created using natural language processing to initiate and control a neural net. The formal impetus for these AI generated works is to explore the simulation of highly tactile art materials coupled to mark making approaches drawn from the kinetic behavior of animals. The material references include tar, oil, ink, fur, melted wax and colored pigments. The gestural vocabulary is drawn from the motion of reptiles and aquatic lifeforms in addition to embodied actions such as drawing, painting, pouring, melting, scraping, and scratching. The result is a series of digital talisman conceived as visual embodiments of energetic expressions that promote flow, exuberance, and growth.
